I had the pleasure of joining Dr. Marta Wais and Dr. Meivys Garcia from Markham Fertility Centre on their podcast My Fertility Podcast to discuss naturopathic medicine and how it can support fertility patients.

I had a wonderful time reconnecting with Dr. Marta Wais as she and I met when I was going through my IUI and IVF cycles!

We discussed the answers to the following:

• What is naturopathic medicine? How can naturopathic medicine support fertility patients?
• When should a fertility patient start seeing a naturopathic doctor?
• How do you know if a naturopathic doctor is a good fit or not? How do you know if a naturopathic doctor is a “real” one versus not?
• What should you expect at your first appointment with a naturopathic doctor?
• What types of dietary and supplement recommendations are typically made for fertility patients?
• How do you know if your supplements are right for you? What is third party testing? How do you ask for it?

And lastly, we ended the episode with my final thoughts and it’s a bit of a doozy! I pretty much say this to all of my patients and I almost always have to hold back tears when I say it:

My big take-away for all of my fertility patients is that I want you to be able to stand at the very end of your fertility journey — where ever it may take you — and be able to look back at your entire fertility journey and say to yourself: “I tried everything I could” so that you can close the door on this chapter in your life and be able to move forward to see what the next chapter will bring.

THAT is what I want for every single one of my fertility patients.
